Quote for the Week - Smile

Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, you'll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shining through for you

Light up your face with gladness

Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

Seriously... more snow

I am not complaining however I am really looking forward to Spring! I want to go on a stroll with Cash!

Friday snowstorm...

We use this table to measure the snowfall, about 7 inches so far.

I thought of how much fun we will have next winter with Cash, making a snowman or sledding!

My Mom has been having some serious health problems and I was planning to make the trek across I-80 to check on here... silly me! I am not as brave as I use to be so I will have to wait until Spring thaw. When the road report says blowing and drifting snow it is no joke!

My sweet brothers lovingly take care of her. I am so grateful to Kenny, Marion, Ernie and Lloyd for the way they honor Mom. I tell Mom often that I wish she lived down the street. Big sigh! She will have home health care now and that's comforting. My Mom has lived alone for about 30 years and is ultra-independent. She was always serving others and loosing some of her independence has been difficult and frightening for her. She is brave and I love her!

Quote for the Week - God's love

"God loves us. He's watching us, he wants us to succeed, and we'll know someday that he has not left one thing undone for the eternal welfare of each of us. If we only knew it, there are heavenly hosts pulling for us -- friends in heaven that we can't remember now, who yearn for our victory."

For Grandpa

Grandpa misses Cash so much when he's away all week. He asked me to take pictures when I was with Cash this afternoon. So here's a few for Grandpa. Hurry home so you can give our Duder~Hooter lots of hugs and kisses!

Cash is growing so fast. He's too big to sleep in the cradle. He's aware of everything that goes on. He has a fascination with water bottles, it's so darn cute. He does a lot of amazing things. He's not talking yet but he sure tries, he tells Grandma lots of stories and I think he's brilliant!!

35 years...

"Home of the Thunderbirds"

So a few days ago I got an invitation for the Cheyenne East High ~ Class of 1976 ~ 35-year class reunion. Yikes and Holy Moly!! The invitation said, "You may not want to see us, but we want to see you!" I can't believe how fast 35 years have gone by.

The year I graduated, the United States celebrated the 200th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. We all wore red, white and blue ribbons with a medallion honoring the Bi-Centennial Anniversary.

Disclaimer: I was not popular in high school. I was painfully shy. I had a few good friends, which is all you really need. My friend Suzan and I still keep in touch.

I have some good memories of going to dances and finally getting a car so I didn't have to ride the bus for 2 hours everyday.

We can't all be a cheerleader or the captain of the football team.

That was then

This is now
I have aged a bit but I am soooooo grateful for life I have right now.

Can it really be 35 years?!!

Quote for the Week - Power

 crocussnow
"I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element.  It is my personal approach that creates the climate.  It is MY daily mood that makes the weather.  I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous.  I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration; I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal.  In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis is escalated or de-escalated, and a person humanized or de-humanized.  If we treat people as they are, we make them worse.  If we treat people as they ought to be, we help them become what they are capable of becoming."

~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 - 1832)

For Jane...

A few months ago the young women at my church were having a fundraiser. They wanted homemade items so I donated a blessing gown and afghan that I crocheted. Long story short, two of my neighbors were bidding on the blessing gown. Jane wanted the gown for her daughter Mindy and Larry promised his daughter he would get the dress for her. Jane didn't know that Larry had made this promise to his daughter so she kept bidding until they got to about $230.00, Jane had reached her limit and stopped bidding. I found out about this a few days later so I told my sweet friend Jane that I would make her another gown.

Her daughter has been single for many years and she finally found a great guy and they were married about a year ago. They are expecting a baby girl next month. I am so happy for Mindy. I think she's 38 and has waited patiently with faith for this blessing in her life. Prayers answered!
