Thursday's Thoughts ~ Mommy to Bee...

Well, the three amigos got together again to throw a shower for our mommy to bee! We are so happy for Whitney, and it was time celebrate and shower her with love before her baby girl arrives.

My first attempt at making a diaper cake. You need an extra pair of hands to make this, diapers are slippery!

A cute idea I saw on Pinterest!

A little something I made for Whitney!

A while ago Whitney asked me for a pattern to make a blessing gown. She lives in Pennsylvania so I mailed it to her. I taught her a few basic stitches years ago and I was happy to see her progress. Her stitches are perfect and the dress is looking beautiful!

I made this gown a few years ago and this is what it will look like when she is finished.

We had a short pause during the party so Susan could go outside and scare the deer away. They eat everything in sight! You go girl!

Beautiful mom and daughter...

Thanks to Susan for opening her home for the shower and to our generous neighbors and friends for taking the time to come today!

Whitney will be a wonderful mother and we can't wait to meet her new daughter!

Thursday's Thoughts ~ A place of refuge...

I had many things I needed to do yesterday but I decided to go to the temple. As I drove into the parking lot, I saw the flag at half-staff. President Obama had ordered the United States flags to be flown at half-staff to honor and remember the victims of another senseless acts of violence that occurred during the Boston Marathon on April 15th.

Yesterday the temple was my refuge. It's a good place to take your cares. There is a peace in the temple, and I felt safe. My heart aches for those affected by the bombings and I prayed for the those who lost loved ones or were injured.

5 And the Lord will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defence.

6 And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.  Isaiah 4:5-6

“Every foundation stone that is laid for a Temple, and every Temple completed according to the order the Lord has revealed for his holy Priesthood, lessens the power of Satan on the earth, and increases the power of God and Godliness, moves the heavens in mighty power in our behalf, invokes and calls down upon us the blessings of the Eternal Gods, and those who reside in their presence”  President George Q. Cannon (in “The Logan Temple,” Millennial Star, Nov. 12, 1877, 743).

"Sometimes our minds are so beset with problems and there are so many things clamoring for attention at once that we just cannot think clearly and see clearly. At the temple the dust of distraction seems to settle out, the fog and the haze seem to lift, and we can “see” things that we were not able to see before and find a way through our troubles that we had not previously known."  Boyd K. Packer

"No work is more of a protection to this Church than temple work and the family history research that supports it. No work is more spiritually refining. No work we do gives us more power. No work requires a higher standard of righteousness. Our labors in the temple cover us with a shield and a protection, both individually and as a people."
Boyd K. Packer
“I promise you that all who faithfully attend to Temple work will be blessed beyond measure. Your families will draw closer to the Lord. Unseen angels will watch over your loved ones when satantic forces tempt them. The veil will be thin, and great spiritual experiences will distill upon this people.” ~ Vaughn J. Featherstone

Thursday's Thoughts ~ Grandson and Grandfather Flying Team

For almost 30 years Tim has enjoyed flying model airplanes and now he has a grandson to share his hobby with! I know if Cash and Colby want to fly, he will teach them how. They will be doing flying loops, rolls, touch and gos, flying inverted, and more. That would make Grandpa so happy!

Thursday's Thoughts ~ For Cheyenne...

Once upon a time there was a little girl named Cheyenne. She came to play at her Aunt's home a lot and it was a magical time. Cheyenne stole our hearts... we have so many happy memories and loved having her spend time with us.

Chris and Mark loved having a "little sister." It actually broke my heart when her family decided to move to Burley.

Cheyenne had a few sleepovers at our house. Tim and Holley came to pick her up one morning and I had put a note on the door that said something like, "Go away, you can't have her back." I heard laughing outside and we reluctantly let her go with Mom and Dad!

One of my favorite memories of Cheyenne was when I took her birthday shopping at the mall. She was such a good natured child and I never remember her being naughty. Well... she a saw a bin filled with jelly shoes and that's what she wanted. I searched to find her size and they were all way too big. She laid down on the floor and had a good ole temper tantrum. I couldn't believe it, but she let me console her and we found something else she liked.

Cheyenne called me Leen, and before having lunch one day, I asked if she wanted to say the blessing on the food. She said yes but was struggling a bit to find the right words. I started to help her and she said "Leen, I can do it myself."

Now this sweet girl is all grown up. She has found her Prince Charming and he proposed to her on March 30. She said yes!

It was fun to be in on the surprise that night. She has a beautiful ring and a bright future ahead with J.D.

I am so happy for you Cheyenne. I love you so much!

Cash, one year ago and now...

Look how much Cash has grown in 1 year, I took this picture last Spring.
He just keeps getting more handsome every day!
May 2012

I did a photo shoot with Cash on Monday and he was so sweet. Sometimes he doesn't want to have his picture taken, I don't blame him because I take them often. It's difficult not to with such a handsome, adorable subject!
