Quote for the Week - Prophets

By listening to the prophets, keeping an eternal perspective, having faith, and being of good cheer, we can face life’s unexpected challenges and get on with our lives.
~ Steven E. Snow

"...whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same."
 ~ Doctrine and Covenants 1:38

Quote for the Week - What matters most

I can't stop thinking about the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan. I don't want to be too gloomy but this poem made think that sometimes I need to slow down and make sure I am focusing on what matters most...

If I knew it would be the last time that I’d see you fall asleep, I would tuck you in more tightly and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time that I see you walk out the door, I would give you a hug and kiss and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time I’d hear your voice lifted up in praise, I would video tape each action and word, so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time, I could spare an extra minute or two to stop and say “I love you,” instead of assuming, you would know I do.

If I knew it would be the last time I would be there to share your day, well I’m sure you’ll have so many more, so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there’s always tomorrow to make up for an oversight, and we always get a second chance to make everything right.

There will always be another day to say our “I love you’s”, and certainly there’s another chance to say our “Anything I can do’s?”

But just in case I might be wrong, and today is all I get, I’d like to say how much I love you and I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, young or old alike, and today may be the last chance you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you’re waiting for tomorrow, why not do it today?

For if tomorrow never comes, you’ll surely regret the day, that you didn’t take that extra time for a smile, a hug, or a kiss and you were too busy to grant someone, what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today, whisper in their ear, tell them how much you love them and that you’ll always hold them dear, take time to say “I’m sorry,” “please forgive me”, “thank you” or “it’s okay”.

And if tomorrow never comes, you’ll have no regrets about today.

~ Author Unknown

Since the earthquake and tsunami in Japan I have wanted to hold on a little tighter to my loved ones. My heart aches for the people who have lost so much, for those who didn't get one more chance to say "I love you."

I tell Cash all the time, "Grandma loves you." I whisper it in his ear and he smiles. I love my family so much. You are everything to me.

None of us wants to think about having such a tragedy in Utah, but I decided to evaluate how prepared we are. We just never know what tomorrow will bring.

Get those 72 hours kits and be ready... just in case. If ye prepared, ye need not fear... (Doctrine and Covenants 38:30).

Half A Year...

Cash is 6 months old! I can't believe how much he has changed.

He's becoming such a big boy, so smart and inquisitive. Grandpa and I love to see the new things he does each week. It's so much fun. We especially love it when he smiles and giggles.

I thought I understood the phrase “time flies,” but it’s never had more meaning than it does now. I cannot believe it has been six months… half a year… before I know it you’re going to be walking and talking and dating and driving… don’t grow up so fast, sweet boy!!!

Grandma has decided that she can NEVER live more than 20 minutes (30 tops) away from Cash!

Someday you may look back
and realize...
They were the BIG things."

Grandpa came home for lunch and we went on our first stroll with Cash!
