Words to live by ~ The Atonement of Jesus Christ...

“Some Church members feel weighed down with discouragement about the circumstances of their personal lives, even when they are making sustained and admirable efforts. Frequently, these feelings of self-disappointment come not from wrongdoing, but from stresses and troubles for which we may not be fully to blame. The Atonement of Jesus Christ applies to these experiences because it applies to all of life. The Savior can wipe away all of our tears, after all we can do. In Luke 4:18, Jesus quotes part of a passage from Isaiah that describes the heart of his ministry. The Isaiah passage reads: “The Spirit of the Lord … hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; …to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, … to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion … beauty for ashes.” (Isaiah 61:1, 3; italics added.)
The Savior’s Atonement is thus portrayed as the healing power not only for sin, but also for carelessness, inadequacy, and all mortal bitterness. The Atonement is not just for sinners.” ~ Bruce C. Hafen, “Beauty for Ashes” (April 1990)

Words to live by ~ Work out your own salvation...

O then despise not, and wonder not, but hearken unto the words of the Lord, and ask the Father in the name of Jesus for what things soever ye shall stand in need. Doubt not, but be believing, and begin as in times of old, and come unto the Lord with all your heart, and work out your own salvation with fear and trembling before him.

~ Mormon 9:27

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

~ Philippians 2:12-13

Get winter off...

My neighbor Jeness would say after a long winter, it's nice to be outside and get winter off. This inversion is gone, the snow is melting, and the sun is shining. As soon as Cash and Colby got in the car yesterday, they asked if we could go play at the Big Toy. I know we are all happy to get winter off!

Colby is very adventurous and with a little help he climbed up a tree! He is sweet and loving.

Cash is getting so big. He is really smart and handsome. Grandpa and I both want an 8 x 10 of this one! I love the conversations we have. He said, Grandma Jesus walked around and found people who needed help. He saw a man that was blind and He put clay on his eyes, then he could see. Then he said, it's like a magic trick. I told him that Jesus performed a lot of miracles, because Heavenly Father gave Him a special gift and power. He smiled, and I could the light in his eyes.

I love them so much!

I can't believe it's been six years since Mark and Tiff surprised us with the wonderful news that we would be grandparents!

V-Day 2016

I didn't get too many pictures of our Valentines Day dinner but it was fun. Grandpa put together one of his clever treasure hunts and Cash and Colby loved it. There was a fun prize for them after they had collected all their tickets. Cash asked if we could do another one!

We had a nice roast beef dinner with all the trimmings.

I was excited to use my new Pioneer Woman dishes!

Grey bug, he's one busy boy!

We missed Chris, he was in California  for a business conference. I sent him a picture of our terrible inversion weather, and he sent one back of a beautiful beach sunset. Sigh...

Happy Valentine's Day!

I love my family and am so grateful for each one of them!

Words to live by ~ Blessings...

"Blessings"

We pray for blessings, we pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
And all the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things

'Cause what if your blessings come through rain drops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

We pray for wisdom, Your voice to hear
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt your goodness, we doubt your love
As if every promise from Your word is not enough
And all the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe

'Cause what if your blessings come through rain drops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know that pain reminds this heart
That this is not,
This is not our home
It's not our home

'Cause what if your blessings come through rain drops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near

What if my greatest disappointments or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can't satisfy
What if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are your mercies in disguise
~ Laura Story

My neighbor Camille sang this song in Relief Society yesterday. It was written by Laura Story who not a member of the Church, but obviously a Christian. She wrote the song after her husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I love the message.

ThrowBack Thursday ~ Protective brother...

This is such a sweet memory for me... One day Cash, Colby and I went to feed to the ducks. Without any prompting from me, Cash instinctively was watching out for Colby. If he got to close to the edge of the path, he would put his hand on his shoulder and guide him back to safety. What a nice brother.

Super Bowl Sunday...

I'm not all that interested in sports, but we sure had fun watching the big game on Sunday. We ate great food, did crafts, played games and enjoyed each other company!

Grey snuggled with Chris several times during the night. He's so good with kids!

Cash and Colby were showing Chris how to play Hang On Harvey.

When the Super Bowl gets boring, fun in the tub is just the ticket!

And the Broncos won Super Bowl 50, so the night ended perfectly!

Words to live by ~ Time...

Time is never for sale; time is a commodity that cannot, try as you may, be bought at any store for any price. Yet when time is wisely used, its value is immeasurable. On any given day we are all allocated, without cost, the same number of minutes and hours to use, and we soon learn, as the familiar hymn so carefully teaches, “Time flies on wings of lightning; we cannot call it back” (“Improve the Shining Moments,” Hymns, no. 226). What time we have we must use wisely. President Brigham Young said, “We are all indebted to God for the ability to use time to advantage, and he will require of us a strict account of [its] disposition” (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Brigham Young [1997], 286).

School Days 2016...

Mr. Kano teaches English, is an assistant principle, and is the adviser for the Student Council. He had the bright idea to have a school mascot. We are known as Lincoln Academy, "Home of the Eagles."

So he ordered an eagle costume and the student council loved it. Eddie the Eagle made his debut appearance at an assemble on Friday. The students were excited. Good idea Mr. Kano!

Mr. Kano put these on my desk the other day...  not on the program!

I subbed for Mr. Arteta last week. He had this sign on his desk. Sometimes we wish the students and teachers would stay home when their sick!

I also got to sub for orchestra last week. It was fun and they sounded really good!
