Memorial Day 2011

We enjoyed gathering with family on Memorial Day to remember those we love who have passed away. Thanks to Terri for organizing a time to meet at the cemetery.

It was a rainy day but the sun did come out for a few minutes!

Terri's children wanted to bring pictures of them doing things they enjoy to place on the graves. Elijah wanted one of him playing soccer! They also had a picture of their recent trip to Disneyland.

Johnnie Belle and Lee also brought their favorite pictures. Johnnie Belle chose this picture of Glenn from a trip they took to Hawaii.

Lee thoughtfully placing the pictures by Glenn's grave.

Alyssa lost a tooth Sunday night. She woke Terri at 3:00 in the morning to tell her. It must have been really loose, no string or doorknob needed!

We also want remember and honor those soldiers who have fought the good fight and pray for them. For they have laid down their lives for our freedom we... live out daily. May God continue to bless them and remember the families who supported them during the battles of war. And God Bless America!! (Thanks Christina)

Quote for the Week - Storms

It’s like a storm
That cuts a path
It’s breaks your will
It feels like that
You think your lost
But your not lost on your own
Your not alone
I will stand by you
I will help you through

The tithing slips, standing orderly in the wall holder, offer an interesting contrast to the devastation in the rest of the building.

I have offered many silent prayers for the families of Joplin who have lost everything and I marvel at the courage they have shown. I am grateful to my neighbors, the Nilson's who organized a relief effort in our neighborhood. They provided several trucks to deliver the things we donated.

You are my sunshine...

Cash is the light of my life,
the sunny part of my day,
and little compares to his sweet smile.

I got to be with Cash ALL day on Tuesday. Daddy was working and Mommy filled in at the orthodontist office where she worked before Cash was born. Lucky, lucky me!!

Quote for the Week - It's a rainy day

It's a rainy day.
It's raining outside
And I can't go out and play.
Why do we need the rain anyway?

This is one of my favorite Sesame Street songs. I sang it with Chris and Mark back in the 1980's. It popped into my head again because we had rain EVERYDAY last week. I sang it for Cash and he smiled at Grandma! So why do we need so much rain anyway?!

The sunshine is coming Wednesday... I hope!!

Billie's Blooms!

I have so much fun helping my friend Billie arrange flowers for weddings and other occasions. This was, in my humble opinion one of her best.

 Rae Ann and Billie

The flowers were for my friend Rae Ann's granddaughter's wedding reception.

 Rae Ann's granddaughter, Ashlee

The centerpieces were beautiful. Rae Ann, her daughter and granddaughter went to several second hand stores and found dishes. They glued them together to create these darling centerpieces. Billie worked her magic with the flowers. I think they are so charming and unique. What a great idea!

I cleaned the leaves and thorns off the roses and made boutonnieres while Billie worked on the centerpieces. Most people don't realize how much effort and patience it takes to create a beautiful arrangement.

The reception at the Bungalow...

One of the boutonnieres I made!

The photographer was so impressed with the centerpieces and how beautiful everything looked. She is submitting some of the pictures to a brides magazine. We will see what happens with that!

Good job Billie, you're sensational!!
