Grandma Days...

I need to have at least, one Grandma Day with Cash every week. Lucky for me it's usually more.

Cash has two teeth,

he can pull himself up on anything that's available...

and he's crawling!

Mark asked me the other day, after I had a Grandma Day with Cash if I had my fill... not a chance! I especially love it when I am with him at night. We do the routine ~ bath, bottle, book, (prayers) and bed. Bath time is especially fun. He really loves to splash!!

My niece Julie said Cash is delectable and he is... 9 months old now and he gets cuter and more fun everyday!!

Quote for the Week - Bring on tomorrow...

Bring on tomorrow for me and for you
we hung on through dark hours...dawn's overdue
bring on tomorrow and show me the sun
we'll live it together cause you're the one..

Without you it's nothing..

why else would I climb?
Together forever, hearts beating in time..
Oh...bring on tomorrow for me and for you...
we hung on through dark hours, dawn's overdue
bring on tomorrow and show me the sun..
we'll live it together cause you are the one

Lord willing, and if the creek don't rise...

Our beautiful mountains are covered with record snowfall. In April and May we had cooler than normal temperatures and record rain fall. Now the heat is on and all that snow is melting and filling our stream. The water comes out of the American Fork Canyon, and our subdivision is only about 6 miles from its exit. It's more water than we have seen in the 23 years we have lived in Hidden Oaks.

We live near the stream ~ on the the most beautiful street in our neighborhood but also the most vulnerable for flooding. We have great neighbors who helped get sandbags in place. The water levels are being monitored 24 hour a day, Tim has a turn tonight.

A track-hoe stands ready,  in case we need to excavate a channel on the other side of the covered bridge to help carry the water around it.

The culvert carrying the water underneath the bridge is completely full.

All the homes on our street have drains and pumps.

The pumps work great as long as we have power. There is a chance the electrical lines could go if the stream swamps the bridge so Tim got a gas pump to handle basement water just in case. Tim is amazing, even with his bum hand he got it all set up.

The "experts" say if we can hold on about 10 more days, then we'll make it. We're crossing our fingers - but its suppose to hit 90 degrees on Wednesday.

Lord willing, and if the creek don't rise!

Pleasant Surprise!

Our good friend Jefre Brown stopped by Thursday. It was such a nice surprise. I love Jeff and it had been about nine years since I've seen him. He lives in Miami, Florida so our paths don't cross very often. He's in town for a few days while his two oldest boys attend EFY at BYU (Especially for Youth at Brigham Young University). Jeff is the oldest son of Richard and Judy who are dear friends from our Cheyenne days.

We enjoyed our visit and Jeff got to see our raging stream first hand. Flood watch 2011 continues in our neighborhood.

Holley just happened to be driving through our neighborhood to see how high the water was, so she also got to give Jeff a hug and say Hi.

Thanks for stopping by Jeff!!

Father's Day Weekend

Grandpa had another surgery on Friday, the second one in less than a month. He has been having problems with his right hand for years so it was time he had the procedure. (www.healism.com/procedures/bones.../palmar_fasciectomy/)

Cash came to play on Saturday and that made Grandpa feel much better!

Signature Cash expression, we love it!

It was a beautiful day and Cash loved being up on Uncle Christopher's strong shoulders!

We honored the Dad's in our lives on Sunday. I love watching Mark with Cash. He's a good Daddy and it was fun to celebrate his first Father's Day! Tim is also a wonderful Father of the Home, as Mark would say! He loves being a Grandpa. He says it’s the best feeling in the world and loves every second of being with Cash.

Grandpa with his eyes closed and...

Grandpa with his eyes open!

Tim loves gadgets and Mark, Tiff and Cash gave him a cool HEXBUG.

Cash loved it too!!

Tim and I miss our Dad's so much. Ivan and Glenn are always in our thoughts. We are grateful for their influence and love.

The older I get
The more I can see
How much he loved my mother and my brother and me
And he did the best that he could
And I only hope when I have my own family
That everyday I see
A little more of my father in me

He's in my eyes

My heart, my soul
My hands, my pride
And when I feel alone

And I think I can't go on

I hear him sayin' "Son you'll be alright"
Everything's gonna be alright"
Yes it is

~ Keith Urban "Song for Dad"

I say the same things he used to say
And I even find myself acting the very same way
I tap my fingers on the table
To the rhythm in my soul
And I jingle the car keys
When I'm ready to go
When I look in the mirror
He's right there in my eyes
Starin' back at me and I realize

The older I get
The more I can see
How much he loved my mother and my brother and me
And he did the best that he could
And I only hope when I have my own family
That everyday I see
A little more of my father in me

There were times I thought he was bein'
Just a little bit hard on me
But now I understand he was makin' me
Become the man he knew that I could be
In everything he ever did
He always did with love
And I'm proud today to say I'm his son
When somebody says I hope I get to meet your dad
I just smile and say you already have

The older I get
The more I can see
How much he loved my mother and my brother and me
And he did the best that he could
And I only hope when I have my own family
That everyday I see
A little more of my father in me

He's in my eyes
My heart, my soul
My hands, my pride
And when I feel alone

And I think I can't go on
I hear him sayin' "Son you'll be alright"
Everything's gonna be alright"
Yes it is

Quote for the Week - Grief and Love

“Grief is love’s shadow...”

If you are going to love, you have to put up with grief sooner or later, but grief intensifies love. Grief drives love into the deeper parts of your soul and being. Maybe the passing of a loved one is as important as the altar in making an eternal marriage. ~ S. Michael Wilcox

Michael Wilcox is one on my favorite authors and teachers. I enjoyed attending his institute class. His wife, Laurie died of brain cancer in December and he has written a book titled “Sunset” which he hopes will help readers cope with death. It contains lessons he learned during the difficult, final months of his wife’s life. The book will be available next year. I have many of the CD’s he has recorded and would be happy to share them.

Empty Nesters

Our backdoor babies flew away today so...

we are empty nesters again, big sigh!

I know it may seem a little pathetic that I blog about birds but I became attach to these little guys and have worried about them for a couple months.

So maybe I need a change of scenery... this would be a nice vacation spot!
