Blink of an eye...

In the blink of an eye, everything can change. So forgive often and love with all your heart. You may never know when you may not have that chance again.

Noodles and Frisbee...

Grey eats so good by himself, but every once awhile there is a stray noodle! He is so darling.

Grandpa was playing Frisbee with Cash at the park by our house this afternoon, and it all came together for him. He throws straight and caught almost every toss. Yet another sign he is growing up so fast. It was fun to watch him. He wanted to show Daddy when he got back.

 Great catch Cash!

Energizer Bunny...

Meet the energizer bunny...

Mrs. Ungerman

It is a pleasure for me to introduce myself to the students and parents of Lincoln Academy. My name is Kristi Ungerman, and I am the mother of four wonderful children. I received my bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in English Teaching with a minor in Political Science. I am also highly qualified to teach Middle Grades Math and Economics. Life for me has been lived all over the United States, but the last 20 years have been in the mountains of Arizona. While I managed a very busy optometric practice, I served 8 years on the local school board and then 5 years as the school district hearing officer. I returned to the classroom as an affiliate teacher through Eastern Arizona College teaching in our local district as an intervention specialist and academic counselor. I have choreographed musicals; taught voice lessons; coached swim team, t-ball and cheer; run Link Crew and taught and coached Academic Decathlon. My passions are humanities, music, nature and helping kids find their own voice in the world. I am excited to join the Lincoln family and look forward to getting to know all of you!

I started back to school on Wednesday. This is my fourth year at Lincoln, and I have a new teacher. I call Mrs. Ungerman the energizer bunny! I have observed her for the past few years, and she is tireless. She gives way more than is expected. She loves being a teacher. She has given up her prep period for two years. She spent a good part of the summer tutoring students who are behind in Math and English. She is the department head for English. I am so impressed with her energy and knowledge. She explains things thoroughly, and has a genuine love for the students. She is animated and fun. She says failure is not an option, and will do all she can to make sure the students master every concept.

Kristi is so busy that she rarely has time to organize the classroom. I asked her if I could clean things up, and she said be my guest! I love to organize, so in the next few weeks everything will have a place!

Here's to a wonderful 2016-2017 school year. I hope I can keep up!

Charity...

Charity is having patience with someone who has let us down. It is resisting the impulse to become offended easily. It is accepting weaknesses and shortcomings. It is accepting people as they truly are. It is looking beyond physical appearances to attributes that will not dim through time. It is resisting the impulse to categorize others.

Charity has been defined as “the highest, noblest, strongest kind of love,... "But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him. ~ Moroni 7:47

The Great Outdoors...

We had Family Home Evening in the mountains last night. It was so fun to be with Mark, Tiff and the boys. The weather was perfect. Tiff and Mark made delicious tin foil dinners. Cash and Colby played by the river and went exploring. Grey liked going for walks and sitting by the river.

Roasted donuts, they were good!

These darling boys love the great outdoors and we love them so much.

The right wall...

Grandma's Science Camp and Sleepover...

I have thought about having a Grandma Summer Camp for a few years. I knew Cash and Colby were old enough, so this was the summer! I decided on a science theme. I searched for experiments that I thought Cash and Colby would like. I found lab coats and safety goggles. Without a doubt this is one of the best and most fun experiences I have had with Cash and Colby. It's so wonderful when your plans turn out better than expected! I hope this is an annual event, and next year Grey can join us. I don't like leaving him out.

 Experiment #1
Snow Storm in a Jar

The expression on Cash's face says it all, he loved every experiment. He could not get enough, he would have happily done many more.

Experiment #2
Yogurt Silly Putty

Short break and a snack... they are watching science experiments on the i-Pad!

Experiment #3
Lava Lamp

Colby looks so darn cute in his safety glasses!

The Lava Lamp was Cash and Colby's favorite experiment!

Experiment #4
Cloud and Rain

Cash is so meticulous. He also had me write down on pieces of paper the things we needed for each experiment, then he would put them by the appropriate supply. He saw that on the experiments he was watching on You Tube.

Colby has his own style, and did a good job with each experiment. This was a very hands on experience. As much as possible I let them do each step on their own. I read the instructions and both Cash and Colby followed along very well. They are smart boys!

Experiment #5
Pop Rock Balloons

This was also a fun experiment, and eating the Pop Rocks was a bonus!

By the way Cash has a loose tooth!

Snuggling with Cash and Colby in the morning was the best part of the camp for me. We talked for awhile, then got up and played a game, and yes, Cash did a few more experiments!

Colby and Grey also got in on the action. We ended our fun weekend with a birthday breakfast for Mark. I tried copycat Gandolfo's breakfast sandwhiches. They were pretty good.

Hurry back little scientists!
