Energizer Bunny...
It
is a pleasure for me to introduce myself to the students and parents of
Lincoln Academy. My name is Kristi Ungerman, and I am the mother of
four wonderful children. I received my bachelor’s degree from Brigham
Young University in English Teaching with a minor in Political Science. I
am also highly qualified to teach Middle Grades Math and Economics.
Life for me has been lived all over the United States, but the last 20
years have been in the mountains of Arizona. While I managed a very busy
optometric practice, I served 8 years on the local school board and
then 5 years as the school district hearing officer. I returned to the
classroom as an affiliate teacher through Eastern Arizona College
teaching in our local district as an intervention specialist and
academic counselor. I have choreographed musicals; taught voice lessons;
coached swim team, t-ball and cheer; run Link Crew and taught and
coached Academic Decathlon. My passions are humanities, music, nature
and helping kids find their own voice in the world. I am excited to join
the Lincoln family and look forward to getting to know all of you!
I started back to school on Wednesday. This is my fourth year at Lincoln, and I have a new teacher. I call Mrs. Ungerman the energizer bunny! I have observed her for the past few years, and she is tireless. She gives way more than is expected. She loves being a teacher. She has given up her prep period for two years. She spent a good part of the summer tutoring students who are behind in Math and English. She is the department head for English. I am so impressed with her energy and knowledge. She explains things thoroughly, and has a genuine love for the students. She is animated and fun. She says failure is not an option, and will do all she can to make sure the students master every concept.
Kristi is so busy that she rarely has time to organize the classroom. I asked her if I could clean things up, and she said be my guest! I love to organize, so in the next few weeks everything will have a place!

Here's to a wonderful 2016-2017 school year. I hope I can keep up!
