Blessing Dress - The Next Generation

This post is of Glenn and Johnnie Belle's grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were blessed in the dress mentioned in the previous post. I loved looking at these pictures. It was fun to see how we've changed and our different homes. Now many of our children have children of their own. While the blessing dress is now retired, the ordinances of giving a name and a blessing at the hands of a worthy priesthood holder continues. This pattern was observed even before the birth of the Savior when Zacharias and Elisabeth presented their son to receive his earthly name and blessing. The child's name had been revealed to Zacharias by an angel. He was to be named John the forerunner of Jesus Christ. By the power of the priesthood, this blessing was given. What a wonderful way to start our earthly mission!!

"And he took them up in his arms, put his
hands upon them, and blessed them" (Mark 10:16).

New Year's Tradition!!

For many years we have gone bowling on New Year's day. Before we start our new year - new you program we enjoyed the most amazing onions rings in town!!

Tiff is a fun competitor!

Mark puts an amazing spin on the ball. Several times his speed was over 200. The pins see the ball coming and scream for mercy. The pins fly every direction! So fun to watch!!

I don't like to brag but I WON the first game - a respectable score of 129!! Tiffani came in second. Girl power!

Is that a gutter ball, Tim??

Tiff chalked up 6 strikes!!

What form - what grace!!

Mark ended up with 5 strikes and won the second game!

Chris makes everything FUN!

Quote for the week of 1-5-2009

"She slips into this world, and into my arms, placed there by heaven. She is straight from God. An indescribable gift. As I look upon her, peace and purity fill the air around her. Through joyful tears I whisper in her ear, "We are glad you are here, we waited so long to see you." She opens her eyes, and I am transformed - a timeless moment filled with the infinity of what life is. In her eyes I see total recognition. In that instant I feel, and in my heart I know everything I need to know to guide her.

Time will fly; suddenly she will be grown, a young adult, ready to soar into the world and give what she came her for. Letting go will be wrenching, and yet we know that she is not ours to keep. She came to teach us our lessons, to give us joy, to make us whole and to connect us to God. ... an indescribable gift!" - Jeanette Lisefski

Worthy men who hold the Priesthood -
grandfathers, uncles, brothers and cousins.

Brooke's blessing - Spring 1986

What wonderful way to start the new year ... to share in the joy of Poppy's blessing day. The ordinance of giving a name and a blessing is a sacred and happy experience. I always get chills when I see worthy Priesthood holders stand in a circle holding a baby. Yesterday was no exception. Dustin, who holds the Melchizedek Priesthood, gave Poppy a beautiful blessing. I am still processing the full-time mission!! I looked over at this precious baby, only a few months old, and her sweet mother and wondered what she might become ... no doubt great thing are in store for Poppy!

Dancing With the Stars Tour!!

Christopher gave me tickets to the Dancing With the Stars Tour for Christmas!! Susan was excited to come with me and is a "Dancing" fan as well.

I have watched Dancing With the Stars since it began - 8 seasons!! It is a unique series that pairs up celebrities with professional ballroom dancers in what can be an intense competition. I love the dazzling costumes, the music and of course the dancing! This years tour featured performances by Lance Bass, Maurice Green, Marlee Matlin, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Mark Balas (a Utah native), Derek Hough (another Utah native), Kym Johnson, Cheryl Burk, Lacey Schwimmer, Edyta Sliwinska, Karina Smirnoff and Fabian Sanchez. Toni Braxton also performed two songs. It was spectacular!!

The stage and dance floor looked just like it does on the show.

Cheryl Burk with her partner, Maurice Green who is an Olympic Gold Medal winner. Cheryl is one of my favorite professional dancers.

The Dancing With the Stars singers and band were at the performance. They are amazing!!

The finale dance was performed to the song "Dancing Queen." Derek Hough stole the show and brought the house down.

Thank you Chris for being so thoughtful.
I loved seeing the show live!

Quote for the week of 12-29-2009

"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."
– Ralph Waldo Emerson

2009 will be Divine!!
Happy New Year!
