Sushi, Temple Square, and Crown Burger...

The last of the September birthdays and a birthday date with Colby. I picked up him up from school. I asked Colby what time he would like me me to come and he said, the sooner the better! We headed right for his favorite sushi restaurant.

The sushi restaurant is near downtown Salt Lake so we went to see the renovation taking place around Temple Square.

A few facts about the renovation:

The Salt Lake Temple renovation began in 2020 and is scheduled to be completed in 2026. The renovation includes:

Removing spire stones: The stones were carefully removed and their exact positions were mapped, catalogued, tracked, and stored for cleaning.

Adding reinforcing spire steel plates: The refurbished spire stones and reinforcing steel plates began to be added to the temple in summer 2023.

Adding new steel supports: The temple is receiving new steel supports.

Adding steel cabling: Steel cabling is being added to the interior of each tower.

The renovation is designed to strengthen the temple's structure to withstand a magnitude 7.3 earthquake, the strongest expected in the Salt Lake Valley.

The Salt Lake Temple has been renovated many times since its original dedication in 1893, including a major renovation from 1962 to 1966.

Colby was overwhelmed by all the things happening on Temple Square. The missionaries were so kind and we enjoyed talking to them, and having them take a few pictures for us.

Colby had never been inside the Tabernacle or the Conference Center. I really enjoyed showing him around. He was excited to hear organ recitals in both places.

Colbs got a picture with President Nelson!

I think Colby liked to roof top gardens the most!

Colby thought this historic home across from the Conference Center was very cool.

We stopped at Crown Burger for a
milkshake and they were as good as ever.

We did a little birthday shopping and headed for home!

When we got back to the house Chris had made a delicious dinner. The perfect ending to a perfect day!

I'm grateful for every birthday date I've had with Colby. He is so delightful, easy going, and fun.

I love you so much Colby. Happy 12th Birthday.
