IT and Scrub Woman!

The IT and Facilities Department needed a little extra help this summer at my school. I decided I might as well roll up my sleeves and get busy. Both departments work hard, so I was happy to do what I could to ease some of their workload.

I updated computers for two weeks. We moved about 900 computers into the library. Its tedious and sometimes it takes several attempts to get the computers updated. We also cleaned all of them. I thought we would never get finished.

For the past three weeks I have been cleaning classrooms. I'm very thorough and so it takes longer than it probably should. I cleaned blinds, windows, sinks, walls, tables, chairs, and countertops. It was a lot of work but satisfying knowing the rooms will be ready when school starts in the Fall. I especially enjoyed cleaning the rooms for teachers I respect and love in junior high. I was motivated to do a good job!

I cleaned the art room. The sinks and cabinets were splattered with paint. It took a few tries but I got the sinks sparkling clean. I also managed to get most of the paint off the cabinets. I wish I would have taken a before picture. Mr. De, the art teacher is actually very organized, and clean but by the end of the year the room is a bit messy.

Curtis Williams, the Facilities Manager told me several time how grateful he was for the help. He said the rooms look so good and the teachers will be happy.

I think working hard is a a good character trait to have, and I am a hard worker! It's in my DNA. The Ames and Federer's were always helping others and worked hard for everything they had. I am grateful for their example.

For me it's about showing up and sometimes it's important to not wait to be asked.

"Happiness is the real sense of fulfillment that comes from hard work."

I'm tired but happy!

One of my favorite teachers accepted a faculty position at another school. I will miss Mrs. Tesch.
