Weekly roundup...

Unfortunately there are several fires burning out of control near Spanish Fork. The Pole Creek Fire and Bald Mountain Fire have burned over 68,000 acres. These fires are the number one priory in the nation. Over 5,000 residents have been evacuated, including Tim Kay's brother and sister-in-law. They put this note on the door of their home. They are so thankful for the hard work of the firefighters.

The fire was started by lightening and smoldered for several days and then went into a controlled burn, until it became out of control. I know so many people are petitioning the Lord for some much needed rain. The air quality has been terrible. I have never seen the skies so smoky. At school yesterday, you could smell the smoke in the halls. Recess was suspended to keep the students safe. Cash and Colby's soccer games were also cancelled today.
Some days we can't see the mountains.

And then there are the hurricanes and typhoons, on the Carolina coast and on the coast near Luzon, Philippines. I was worried about Chris but thankfully he's okay.
He's staying near Manila, Bonifacio Global City or BGC. He says it's not a coastal city but really they are all islands. Too much water, not enough water, all we can do is have faith and pray. Well and maybe be a little more prepared.

It was a very busy week at school. I subbed almost everyday. I subbed for the foods class, they made Snickerdoodles. After three classes I was exhausted. One group ended up putting too much butter and shortening in the dough. I heard this sizzling sound and I checked in the oven, the cookies were being deep fried! I didn't get upset with the students. I told them they are cooking to get experience and encouraged them to follow the recipe next time. The other classes did really well.

I also got to sub for ballroom, that was so fun. The students were divided into three groups. They had to choreograph a Merengue dance, then teach it to the other groups. Two of the groups did amazing, the third not so much. We had a little free time at the end, so I played "I Like to Move it Move it" and they went crazy with a little free dance. They told me it was one of the most fun classes they have had!

Lee gave me some beautiful flowers, he's so thoughtful.

Cash had a friend birthday party yesterday so I got to play with Grey and Grahm. Before the party I showed Cash some photo albums I made for him. He and the other boys enjoyed looking at them. We laughed and it was fun to reminisce with them. Then they asked if they could make some scrapbook pages, they did so good. After Cash and Colby left for the party, Grey drove Cash's new remote control for a long time, and Grahm pushed the bubble mower around. He didn't want to stop. What a fun night.

Grandpa built a cool ramp.

Grahm would be pushing the lawnmower, then he would stop suddenly and put his arms up. He did this over and over, it was so cute!

Tim Kay asked Rachael to marry him and she said yes!

It was a year ago that my brother Kenny passed away. It's still a bit surreal for me that he is not here. I miss him.

We will see what next week brings, September is going by fast. I'm hoping for more Fall like weather, it's my favorite season.
