Words to live by ~ Miracles...

A miracle has been defined as “a beneficial event brought about through divine power that mortals do not understand and of themselves cannot duplicate.” The idea that events are brought about through divine power is rejected by most irreligious people and even by some who are religious. All of us have known people who have what Elder Neal A. Maxwell of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles once called “the anti-miracle mind-set.” This rejection of miracles in the last days was prophesied. The prophet Nephi foretold that the Gentiles would “put down the power and miracles of God, and preach up unto themselves their own wisdom and their own learning, that they may get gain” (2 Ne. 26:20). He also prophesied that churches would be built up in which persons would teach with their learning, deny the power of God, and tell the people that if someone should “say there is a miracle wrought by the hand of the Lord, believe it not; for this day he is not a God of miracles” (2 Ne. 28:6).

Some people reject the possibility of miracles because they have not experienced them or cannot understand them. In contrast, President Howard W. Hunter declared, “To deny the reality of miracles on the ground that the results and manifestations must be fictitious simply because we cannot comprehend the means by which they have happened is arrogant on the face of it.” ~Elder Dallin H. Oaks (Ensign, June 2001)

And now, my beloved brethren, if this be the case that these things are true which I have spoken unto you, and God will show unto you, with power and great glory at the last day, that they are true, and if they are true has the day of miracles ceased?
Or have angels ceased to appear unto the children of men? Or has he withheld the power of the Holy Ghost from them? Or will he, so long as time shall last, or the earth shall stand, or there shall be one man upon the face thereof to be saved?
Behold I say unto you, Nay; for it is by faith that miracles are wrought; and it is by faith that angels appear and minister unto men; wherefore, if these things have ceased wo be unto the children of men, for it is because of unbelief, and all is vain. ~ Moroni 7:35-37
Yesterday we witnessed the Blessing of little Spencer and I know in my heart it was a miracle that he was healed from a very serious brain bleed, which is rare in full term babies.

Because the blood had no where to drain, it stayed in Spencer's brain and clotted which led to a stroke. Baby Spence was in the NICU for several weeks. Who knows how many prayers have been offered in his behalf. Cash prayed for him often and it was a sweet experience yesterday to have Matthew kneel down so Cash could see Spencer and know for himself that prayers are answered.

After almost eight years of trying to have a baby, our former neighbor, Ashley Wisenberger Gardner delivered four small but healthy baby girls yesterday. Miracle times 4!!!!

I never take for granted that it's a miracle any time a baby is born healthy. I still give thanks everyday that little Grey was born strong and without any problems.

Perfection!

Even though I did not see it, I know God did part the Red Sea, and He did give us the Book of Mormon. He can heal us of our sins, and He can and will bless us in our daily lives. Sadly I am not always worthy, but I still feel His love and I know that He lives. I believe He is a God of miracles... and I am hoping and praying for a miracle in 2015.
