She loved to cook and made the best meals I have ever eaten. She worked hard and gave service to others all her life.
I will always be grateful that we lived nearby. I wanted to spend all my days with her. My brother Les and I wore a path on the prairie to her home.
She taught me about service and why it’s important to do the right thing.
I remember helping her make chokecherry jelly, gather the eggs and clean the chicken coop. We would sew, crochet and embroidery pillowcases.
Occasionally I would washed and set her hair when she didn’t feel like going to town.
I enjoyed helping clean up after dinner. She would wash the dishes and I would dry. I loved all her pretty dishes.
I loved sleeping over at her house. The sheets smelled like heaven. She hung them outside to dry and then would iron them so perfectly.
I even helped her wallpaper her bedroom, we laughed and work until we were exhausted.
I miss Grandma and I will always remember the petite, country grandma that inspired me to be a good person. I have never known anyone so generous. I want to be the kind of grandma to my grandson Cash, that she was to me.
A few months ago my Aunt Bernice gave me postcards, stories, poem and quotes that Grandma had saved through the years. What a pleasure to read through the scraps of paper and think of her.
I put them in a book so we can all enjoy them for many years to come. I know you will laugh, cry and be inspired. Copies of the book will be available soon!!
