I read a book called Eat the Cookie, Buy the Shoes, (Joyce Meyer) awhile back. The author says that engrained in our culture is the belief that unbending discipline is the only sure way to success. You must go to the gym five times a week, never order the dessert, and don't even think about buying that dress you keep staring at in the store window. Breaking from such a regimented lifestyle is a sign of weakness, right?
I realized that sometimes I need to lighten up, even though structure is a good thing, being too structured can be bad. For me it's about balance and every once in awhile we can and maybe even do deserve to indulge in a guilty pleasure or two! So if I had my way I would eat the cookie WHILE buying the shoes.
There are some things that the author and I firmly agree on. First, that saying birthdays aren't worth celebrating after a certain age is SUPER LAME (I didn't always think that). Second, if there's an excuse to throw a party, you should throw a party.
I think we should celebrate life, every birthday, every happy occasion that comes along.
Thanks for celebrating with me and for making my birthday week so incredible. I felt very loved.
Danke!

Maui at the Kea Lani Resort. We stayed there a few years ago and wouldn't mind going back with Cash! Just dreaming.
