The Scarlet Pimpernel

"They seek him here. They seek him there. Those Frenchies seek him everywhere. Is he in Heaven? Or is he in Hell? That damned, illusive, pimpernel." ~ Sir Percy

"Sink me! Your tailors have betrayed you!
T'wood serve you better to send THEM to Madam Guillotine "
 ~The Scarlet Pimpernel

This may sound like an "old person" thing to do but Tim and I have season tickets to the Hale Centre Theatre in West Valley City. We love live theater and it has been a wonderful season. Last night we saw, "The Scarlet Pimpernel." The movie version with Jane Seymour has always been one of our favorites so it was fun to see the musical. It was incredible. More than 800 period costumes were used and they were beautiful. The technical elements amazed us which included a life-sized working carousel that rises from the stage floor and a guillotine that tricks the audience eye during beheadings. Diverse scenes, including a ship, prison, ballroom, tavern and guillotine square, and a two-level acting platform to which a series of bridges are connected. Set during the first French Revolution in the late 1700s, a band of British aristocrats, led by the Scarlet Pimpernel, scheme to save the French aristocracy from the guillotine. To preserve their anonymity, the “bounders” must play the parts of fools in British and French society and safeguard their secret identities from all – including the Pimpernel’s new wife, Marguerite. The show includes clever escapes, daring fights, comical scenes and romantic exchanges. We enjoyed all three hours!

Tim and I just laugh when we see pictures of each other. So we are trying to fight aging but that expensive cream just doesn't seem to be working! Oh well, that's what we look like and we are enjoying life wrinkles and all!! (Sink me! We are younger then those men behind us!)
