GRANDCHILDREN...

I could try to explain it
but until you have one
you could never understand
just how GRAND they are
or how GRAND they make you feel

We made caterpillars, clothespin cars, and painted turkeys. I love seeing all the crafts around the house that Cash, Colby, Grey, and Grahm have made.

Colby usually helps me make a treat but this time Grey wanted to help. He made some yummy chocolate chip zucchini muffins. He's a good helper too!

Cash and Colby painted turkeys that we will save for Thanksgiving. They are awesome!

Grahm finally painted his birdhouse. He chose three colors and mixed them. He made sure he didn't miss any spots and it turned out so nice.

Cash, Colby, Grey, and Grahm
really do make our lives so GRAND.

Large splinter...

Tim had large splinter removed from his hand on Monday.

I couldn't go into the surgical center with him because of COVID. I had to wait until he was in recovery.

The Provo River Parkway Trail was steps away from the surgical center so I went for a walk. It was so beautiful and I saw the sun come up over Y mountain.

I saw this car in the parking lot of the surgical center and thought Tim probably helped make a payment on it! But we do appreciate good doctors.

About an hour later the surgery was finished and everything went well. Tim had very little pain and will have the splint off in a few days. I was kidding about the splinter. I told Tim before surgery not to worry, removing the cyst would be like removing a large splinter!

Chris stopped by to check on Tim and made him his favorite curry dish. That was very kind and Tim enjoyed the food so much.

Wild...

This post is for my nephew Jimmy. He has a special place in my heart and I wish I could see him more often. His life has not always been easy but he works hard, helps others, and is one tough cowboy.

He will often help my brother Lloyd at his ranch, in fact he will go out of way to help his friends and family whenever there is need.

Jimmy has been a volunteer and participant at Cheyenne Frontier Days for many years.

My brothers Lloyd and Kenny, along with several cousins and uncles have participated, and served on the Frontier Days committee also.

Lloyd and Kenny - Wild Horse Race

Uncle Carl ~ Jimmy ~ Lloyd

My nephew Theo!

Jimmy opened a feed store awhile ago in his hometown of Glenrock, Wyoming. His brother and my nephew Kevin designed the logo for the store. I wish him so much success.

Jimmy and his team won in 2011.

The wild horse started in the 1800's as a competition between ranch teams. From its roots as a race through town with only wagons as fences, the wild horse race evolved into a rodeo event. Wild horses are no longer used but cowboys race ranch-raised horses that have not been broke. There are three cowboys on a team, the mugger, the shanker, and the rider who must ride around the track. The first team who successfully does that wins. I've seen the wild horse race and it's very exiting. Jimmy is the shanker, he hold the lead rope.

He entered this year with a team and before the first race Jimmy asked my brother Lloyd to pin his number on his shirt for good luck.

Jimmy's team came in 2nd place. Frontier Days is the largest outdoor in the nation so it's a pretty big deal and I'm proud of him.
