Spring Break Part 2...

Could Spring break get any better you ask? Well yes it could because I got to spend the day with Colby Colbs, the one and only Mr. Duder Pants!

Wednesday was another gorgeous day, so Colby and I went for walk and fed the ducks.

The ducks didn't seem very hungry so Colby decided to enjoy the bread!

I love that Colby's hair is long enough to blow in the wind!

Colby has been a little unsure of jumping on the trampoline, especially when Cash is also jumping.

So today it was all him... with a determined look on his face he started jumping without any fear.

He got a little static in his hair, he does have an electric personality!

Bubbles are always fun!

Colby was a big helper and put the weeds in the bucket for Grandpa.

After a busy day you need to stretch your legs and have a cookie.

We love you so much Colby, hurry back!

Spring Break...

It's so nice to have a few days off from school because I got to spend an entire day with Cash. It was a beautiful Spring day and we had lots of fun.

I love seeing this handsome boy in the backseat.

YES... we stopped and got a few "Welcome to Spring" items. We found some cool Spiderman toys at Target. Cash wanted Pepper to come outside with us. I think he liked it because he chirped a lot.

Playing with Spiderman is serious business!

 It was definitely popsicle weather.

 Cool Spiderman shoes!

 Love Cash's new haircut!

Cash asked me if he could take some pictures and he did a good job!

He even took a few selfies!

When Grandpa got home from work, Cash helped him wash the windows.

He is always a good helper!

Cash had to go potty and I asked him if wanted help. He told me Mommy said this is the last day and you need to go by yourself. So all day he went potty without help! I love that he remembers what Mark and Tiff teach him and tries his best to do it. He is such a good boy!

Grandma...

This is my Grandma Edna. I spent time with her almost every day all of my growing up years. She was my closet neighbor and friend. I loved being with her. She was simple and kind. She worked from sun up to sun down cooking, cleaning, sewing, and lovingly caring for her family.

She taught me to sew and to make quilts. Grandma taught me to embroider and crochet. We picked chokecherries together and gathered eggs. We went on walks together and sometimes we just sat and watched Lawrence Welk. I knew where the chocolate covered peanuts were hidden. I loved to help her wash and dry the dishes. She was the best cook I've ever known. The memory of her delicious beef and noodles, rolls, fried chicken, wilted lettuce salad and strawberry-rhubarb pie has not diminished over the years.

As I got older, I still loved to visit and always felt such a warm feeling every time I drove into the yard. Sometimes she asked me to to wash and set her hair. As she got older, I started to worry that each visit might be my last.

I remember the day she told me she was sick. Sick... I thought Grandma never gets sick. She showed me a spot on her hand, it was melanoma. It was just a few months and the cancer had metastasized. She was tired but mercifully was not in too much pain. She was laying on her pretty blue couch the last time I saw her. She couldn't talk so I stroke her soft hair and told her how much I loved her. I have never had such a heavy heart as I did that day. She died peacefully the next day.

I'm thankful for that she got to hold Chris and Mark and that I could take take them to her home, a place that was so dear to me.

I really didn't ever want to turn and not find her there. I am glad I got to live next door and spend so much time with her. She lived a life of service, donating many of her beautiful quilts and other handmade items to charity. She lived a long and productive life.

I have a picture of her that I see everyday. I pass by it and see her smiling at me. I really love her. She was the perfect grandma for me. I look forward to seeing her again someday.

Quote of the Week ~ Greatness...

Few will have the greatness to bend history itself, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total of all those acts will be written the history of this generation. ~ Robert F. Kennedy

Spiderman

Cash loves all things Spiderman these days. He wears his Spiderman jammies as often as possible. After his bath the other night, he asked me if he could wear them again! He is so wonderful, sweet and fun!

Follow the Prophet...

Twice a year, we gather for a "General Conference" to hear Church leaders share inspired messages and counsel. I love to listen to the leaders of our Church with my family. Since they were born, Christopher and Mark have listened with us. Never, not one time did they say they didn't want to. They did not complain but would sit and listen to every session.

This morning Mark sent pictures of his little family gathered to listen to conference. Tim and I looked at the pictures and felt such joy... tears came to our eyes. Tiffani and Mark are showing their precious boys the way to true and lasting happiness.

I am grateful that they will have a solid foundation and that they will come to know for themselves that they have a Savior who loves them, that the heavens are not sealed, and that we do have a living prophet who leads and guides us. He is the Lord's mouthpiece and we can weather the storms of life and find peace by following his counsel.

Cash and I were sitting outside last week talking and he said, "After dinner we have Family Home Evening and we pray to Jesus." Then he said, "We can't see Jesus." I looked up at the sky and said that Jesus is in Heaven and even though we can't see him we can feel Him in our hearts. Cash said, "He's not in my heart." One day soon, he will experience the love of the Savior, I think he already has.

I think often about how important it is to be a good example to Cash and Colby, I hope I always am. I love them, there just are not words to express how much they mean to us.

As conference ended this morning, I saw President Monson pause to say "I love you" to someone. I know that he is a prophet of God. I feel his love and concern for all of us. There he is with his daughter by his side and carrying on without his dear wife.
“What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken, and I excuse not myself; and though the heavens and the earth pass away, my word shall not pass away, but shall all be fulfilled whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same.” (D&C 1:38)

Someone had a birthday...

Of course we had a celebration for our beautiful, sweet daughter-in-law! Tiffani turned 28 on Thursday. We are proud of the way she cares for her family. Cash and Colby adore her and she is a devoted mother and wife. We love her more with each passing year!

We were so happy that Tiff's parents and Ayva could come to the party.
Cash adores his cousin Ayva and she is so sweet.

 Gorgeous!

Cash asked me if we could have another party for Mommy tomorrow!

Happy Birthday Tiffani, we hope you have a wonderful year!
It's just a hunch, but I have a feeling it will be.
