Keep climbing...

Mark and Cash successfully hiked Mount Timpanogos last week with other members of their ward. I know it's a challenging hike but they were rewarded by watching the sunrise and stunning views. I was very grateful that they made it up and down safely. They had perfect weather too.

Cash looking good!

Hiking Mount Timpanogos is a challenging but rewarding experience, with two main trails (Timpooneke and Aspen Grove) leading to its summit through stunning scenery, including wildflowers, waterfalls, and wildlife like mountain goats. The strenuous hike covers over 13-15 miles roundtrip with thousands of feet in elevation gain.

Difficulty: Strenuous and very strenuous due to the elevation gain and distance.

Distance: Roundtrip is about 13-15 miles, depending on the trail chosen.

Elevation Gain: Over 4,300 feet.

Time to Complete: 6-10 hours for the Timpooneke Trail, and 9-11 hours for the Aspen Grove Trail.

There’s something about mountains. I feel something each time I look up at our majestic mountains. I try not to take them for granted. On my way to work each morning I take a deep breath and feel strength for the day as I view them.

"Climbing a mountain is a powerful metaphor for life. The journey to the summit is demanding and sometimes feels impossible, much like the challenges we face every day. But just as we conquer mountains by taking one step at a time, we too can overcome our struggles by moving forward slowly and steadily. When life feels overwhelming, think about climbing that mountain, inching your way up. Each small step brings you closer to the top. Remember, progress is progress, no matter how slow. Keep putting one foot in front of the other. It’s amazing what you can overcome when you persist."

The same day Mark and Cash hiked Timp I walked the Canyon Road Trail near Mark and Tiff's home. I've mentioned this before but it's a favorite walk for me. Passing by Fish Park and seeing the mountains up close fills my heart with hope and peace.

The sunrise I saw that morning was at a different elevation but still so beautiful and inspiring. Keep climbing!

Later that day at Grahm's football game I took a picture of Mount Timpanogos. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by such beauty.

“There are great challenges ahead of us, giant opportunities to be met. I welcome that exciting prospect and feel to say to the Lord, humbly, ‘Give me this mountain,’ give me these challenges.”
