How blessed I am to have coworkers who are also dear friends, these wonderful women placed in my life by shared circumstances, who have supported me through the ebb and flow of our work days. This will most likely be my last year at Lincoln, so it was good to meet together for lunch the other day.

I only took a few pictures of the school but Jeanette (in the other striped shirt) and I signed up to help clean the school for the month of June. I should have taken a before but the rooms are looking very clean. I usually arrived at school about 7:00 and would leave about 2:30. We took a short break for lunch so I average about 6 hours a day but some days it was longer. I didn't usually work on Thursday and Friday but that's still about 80 hours or more. I sliced my finger on a metal light cover and a large canvas print fell over and hit my hand. I had a hematoma and my entire hand was bruised. But the show must gone on and we got the job done.

There is also some remodeling going on to make room for more students and staff. We are literally running out of space.
I organized all these textbooks, they were spread out all over the place.
The physical facilities director is a good man who works so hard to keep the school in good repair and clean. Curtis and his team cannot possibly do everything that needs to be done without extra help in the summer.
Jeanette are so much alike. We know the value of hard work and we are very thorough. That can be both a blessing and curse. It was difficult for us to leave a room unless it was sparkling clean. Curtis would tell us, at some point you have to move on. We had so many compliments and were told that the school hasn't looked this clean in years. Some rooms had not been deep cleaned for about 5 years! We spent over 4 hours in two of the classrooms and could have probably cleaned for a few more.
We cleaned 22 rooms top to bottom, and I'm sore and exhausted. I'm grateful for Jeanette, she made the experience more pleasant. Even though we got paid, ultimately it was the hard work and sense of accomplishment that was the real paycheck.
I'm thankful to my parents and grandma who taught me by example, the value of working hard and not to walk away until the job was completed.
