We have lived in Highland for over 30 years. The city has changed a lot since we moved here. There were many orchards and a slower pace. We use to know almost everyone but not anymore, it's grown so much. Now most of the orchards are gone, and there are houses of all shapes and sizes being built everywhere. There are a lot more business too. The traffic is bananas, it doesn't matter what time of day the roads are always busy. But despite all that I still love living in Highland.
As we watched the Highland Fling parade yesterday, it brought back so many happy memories. My family participated in or watched the parade for many years. Tim with Chris and Mark's T-ball team, me with a Primary float a few times, Mark's all-star baseball team or soccer, and Chris with the band or as a Lone Peak yell leader.
We saw a few old friends at the parade, Eric Adamson, Fay and Dennie Butterfield, and JR Jolley were among them. It was fun to watch the parade with Mark and his family. Colby, Grey, and Grahm enjoyed scooping up some candy. I like parades because they are patriotic. There is usually a float with military veterans and we always stand as the flag goes by. I enjoyed seeing the firetruck and the policeman, I'm grateful for their service. I love a parade, especially if I can watch it with my family!
