Hear our cries...

And God did hear our cries and did answer our prayers, …
Mosiah 9:18

I pray when I walk in the morning, which takes about an hour. I pray at night before I go to bed. I have a prayer in my heart many times throughout the day. I pray for my family by name everyday. In the scriptures when one is praying, it often says they cried unto the Lord. Saying they cried seems to be more of a pleading, a deep desire for an answer. Prayer is a remarkable thing. We can speak to the God of the universe wherever we are and ask for whatever we need. It might be outside, in a bedroom, in a closet, or in the mountains. It doesn’t matter where we cry unto to Him. The promise is the same, He will hear and help.

Prayer (Bible Dictionary)
The object of prayer is not to change the will of God but to secure for ourselves and for others blessings that God is already willing to grant but that are made conditional on our asking for them. Blessings require some work or effort on our part before we can obtain them. Prayer is a form of work and is an appointed means for obtaining the highest of all blessings.
