I'm 58...

 Roseanne ~ Me

When my parents were in their 30s I thought they were old! Now I look in the mirror and see how silly that was. I have more wrinkles and sometimes I use glasses to read small print. Compared with my grandparents and my parents generation, 58 year-olds are in the prime of life. I no longer feel I have to be everywhere and do everything. I try to focus on what is most important and that will always be my family.

I'm grateful today for my parents who gave me life and for the sacrifices they made. I'm grateful for the things they taught me. I treasure the friendships I have. My family is everything.

The truth is, I may be 58 but I don't feel old. I do however feel a little nervous about turning 60! Sixty is.. well.. sixty.

I learned the secret of the fountain of youth from Grandma Federer. She was always serving, making lovely things for others, gathering her family around often and she had a pure heart. She worked hard and loved deeply. I try to be like her.

Old age? It can wait for another day.
