We arrived at the hospital about 7:30 in the morning and waited about an hour, then they took him to the O.R.
I wasn't too nervous until I saw the nurse wheel Chris down the hall, then I cried. Thankfully Chris didn't see me.
So I sat in the waiting room, said a few more prayers and tried to read. I saw this super-sized chair and hoped I never would need to use one.
I was so relieved when Doctor Le came in the waiting room and told me everything went well. He said he fixed the hernia on the right side but discovered he also had a hernia on the left side. It was smaller so it was not difficult to repair. Doctor Le was very kind and took good care of Chris.
As Colby would say, "all done" and "thumbs up" that is was over! Chris did great. The nurses really liked him. They said he was moving around a lot as he started to wake up from the anesthesia, and he tried to move onto is side. They needed him to stay on his back, so they had to hold him still. They said, "He's very strong." He settled right down and was "cooperative." He said some funny things... one of the nurses asked him he if needed anything and he said he wanted an awesome blossom. The nurse said no because she didn't want him to barf! He also asked the nurse if she would vote for Hilary if she ran for president.
Christopher was so relaxed from the anesthetic that his oxygen saturation was too low. The nurse had him use this contraption (spirometer) to filled his lungs with air. They wouldn't released him until he maintained 90% saturation. In about an hour he was stable and we headed for home.
I stayed with Chris all day, just to be there if he needed anything. While he was resting, I organized Cooperate Headquaters. He was sore but the pain meds helped. He's feeling a lot better and will be back in business in a few days.
His friend Dave stopped by with his family and brought him dinner. Very thoughtful!
No lifting those heavy weights!
