Kindness Week...

The student council sponsored "Kindness Week." They kicked it off by showing a video of Hilary Weeks newest song, "Say Love." It's about sharing kinds words and the impact they have. In the video, Hilary is sitting on a bench and a paper airplane lands on her lap. She opens it up to find a kind message just for her.

Student Council president, Trey and student council member, Grace... Mrs. Otto, who I TA for is the teacher representative, she does a great job.

The student council hung paper airplanes all over the school and encouraged every to be especially kind. Students were given a paper airplanes to write kind messages. Hopefully every student got an airplane. They also asked for items to be donated for hygiene kits that will be sent to Africa. It was a week of service and promoting kindness.

The week ended with Hilary performing her song at an assembly.

Holley, Hilary and me
It was a thrill to meet her. She is so talented and a real genuine person.

The assembly concluded with several girls who
volunteered to have their hair cut and donated to Locks of Love.

It was heartwarming to see the girls having their hair cut to make wigs for people who have lost their hair from chemo treatments.

Friday was also the ground breaking ceremony for the addition to the school.

The house in the background that has been used for classrooms, will be torn down or moved to a new location if someone purchases it.

Mr. Hunt explaining that the new addition has a price tag of 4 million dollars. It will be a two story building attached the the existing building. The addition will house the junior high students and the current building will be just for elementary students. Junior high and elementary students are currently in the same building, so this new addition will provide a lot of new opportunities.

And so it begins...
