"Order is heaven's first law"
~ Alexander Pope

I 'm reading a book called "Happier at Home" by Gretchen Rubin. (I also read another one of her books, "The Happiness Project"). “Of all the elements of a happy life,” she thought, “my home is the most important.” In a flash, she decided to undertake a new happiness project, and this time, to focus on home. She wanted to be happier at home, she wanted to appreciate how much happiness was there already.

So, starting in September (the new January), Rubin dedicated a school year—September through May—to making her home a place of greater simplicity, comfort, and love. When I read a chapter in the book where it suggests that "outer order contributes to inner peace," it struck a chord with me so I have resolved to go room by room and consider what is useful and what I believe is beautiful and meaningful to me and my family. I consider myself an organized person but I realized that there was definitely room for improvement. I consider each possession... do I love it? ~ do I use it? Would I replace it if it were broken or lost? I sort everything, the keep/the donate/the toss piles. I have tackled four rooms and I don't think there is just one single way to do it, you just find what works best for you!

I really love our home, it's not perfect but it's a place of love, a place where we gather as family and memories are made. And it's becoming a place of more order, comfort and simplicity!
