Pinwheel Party

With the help of some of my friends, we had a shower to celebrate the engagement and upcoming wedding of Ariel Walus. The mother of the bride-to-be is a dear friend and one of the most talented, clever women I know. Kim is amazing in every way!

I decided to go with a pinwheel theme and they were fun to make.

In some cultures pinwheels have deep spiritual significance. The Chinese believe the pinwheel is an instrument to turn obstacles into opportunities and are a revered symbol during the Chinese New Year festivities. The symbolic meaning of a pinwheel is "to turn one's luck around." As "luck would have it" Ariel found her handsome prince, she just had to go all the way to New Zealand to meet him!

 We had pinwheel sandwiches...

and my friend Denise made pinwheel cookies. They were cute and delicious!

Ariel's nine day old nephew was among the party goers. Gil is so handsome!

Kim made this darling apron for Ariel.

Ariel will be a beautiful bride!

Ariel chose this gorgeous vintage gown. Since we can't all go to New Zealand to the wedding, it was fun to see it.

And the all important perfect pair of shoes!

Ariel's sister McKenna will be wearing this adorable dress and shoes.

Kim describing how she made this one of kind bouquet.

Kim handmade each one of the flowers with ribbon and added beautiful beads. I have never seen anything like it.

Thank you, thank you to Susan for offering to have the party in her backyard and to my friends Lorie, Meg and Denise for all there help.

Congratulations Ariel and Chip!
