Remembering Luke

I miss my cowboy friend. He passed away on February 24, 2007 ... two years ago. With Susan always by his side, Luke dedicated his life to serving the Lord - cheerfully giving his all.
Some men leave their mark on the world by the way they live and the difference they make.
Elder Savage It was a few years ago, you know, A call to serve came To Hong Kong he would go And a mission would be the aim. The time went by so fast Helping others with Susan always near. Their missionary service would soon be in the past, Time to leave behind people who became so dear. Home to Highland ... a time to rest? Luke felt so blessed and knew one mission would never do! Despite broken ribs and cuts, he was ready to give his best. A promise to a dear friend he would be true. Off to sunny California and others who are in need, Seeking out the "lost sheep" as the Lord did command. Showing love in action and in deed. Feeling blessed to visit Marines and lend a helping hand. Your example shows others the way. We want to follow in your footsteps. And so we honor you today, For giving, serving and teaching - each and every day.
We had a wonderful visit with Elder and Sister Savage while they were serving a mission at San Clemente, California. - July 2003 I made this quilt in honor of their missionary service. They came to love the Marines that were stationed at Camp Pendleton. Semper Fi - "Always Faithful" It took us 30 hours to get to Hong Kong but oh it was worth it. We enjoyed another amazing time together with Luke and Susan. Chinese Emperor Luke! Susan and Luke gave a wonderful presentation at Relief Society about their experiences in Hong Kong. Another quilt I made to honor Susan and Luke for their missionary service in Hong Kong. I used pictures that Susan had sent me. My favorite is the one where Luke accidentally put on 2 different cowboy boots. At least they were both black!! One of our many trips to Lake Powell with Luke and Susan. George got to go with us this time. We were actually there during the 9/11 tragedy and had no idea it had happened for a few days. These vacations will always be Chris and Mark's favorite!
It's not difficult to see why Chris and Mark enjoy Lake Powell so much!!
So many sweet memories. We will always be grateful for Luke and Susan's generosity!
