Grandma Day - Sleepover with Grahm - Annular Solar Eclipse...

I know, but we have to make pizza at least once a month and Colby's calzone was a work of art! Gotta love the photo bomb by Cash! 

Colby told me about a game he played at a friends house, so I got it. We played Curses and I laughed the entire time. It was lots of fun. You have to act out different situations and Cash and Colby were at the top of their game! Hilarious performances! Colby was explaining how to play Curses.

Grahm asked me several weeks ago if he could sleep over so Friday night he got his wish. He is so much fun, a real delight to have around. We love him a lot.

He sings, dances, and tells us all the things he knows.

Saturday morning we all got to view the eclipse. It was a beautiful morning. The Sun is never completely blocked by the Moon during an annular solar eclipse. An annular solar eclipse happens when the Moon covers the Sun's center, leaving the Sun's visible outer edges to form a “ring of fire” or annulus around the Moon. 

I've seen lots of eclipses but I still find them very fascinating. The temperature drops, it gets darker, and there are amazing shadows.

BRING THEM TO CHURCH

Saturate their lives with the Word of God. Even if they lay on the floor. Even if they need 437 goldfish and a sucker to be quiet. Even if you stand in the back swaying back and forth holding them. Even when it’s hard. Even when your row looks like a small hurricane just came through. Bring them to church. Let them see you worship. Let them see you pray. Let them see you running toward the Savior ... because if they don’t see and learn these things from you, who are they going to learn them from?

The world will teach them it’s not a priority. The world will teach them it’s okay to lay out, not to pick up their Bibles. The world will direct them so far off course, confuse them, and misinform them that just being “good” is enough. The world won’t teach them about Jesus. That’s our job.

So proud of Grey...

Mark got to coach Grey's soccer team and he's a natural. It's fun to watch Mark coach and it brought back memories of watching him play soccer. He really was a star and one of the best on the high school team!

I was so proud of Grey. It was a difficult season. They maybe had extra players to sub in for one or two games. It was so hot for several of the games and the grass was always way too long. But Grey never gave up. He played even when he was hot, thirsty, and tired. Grey is a team player and he played great defense. He had some powerful kicks and can run really fast. Grey can do hard things and he will continue to do great things! I love him so much.

I love Fall most of of all...

Tim and I went for a drive up American Fork Canyon early Sunday morning. It was softly raining and the colors were beautiful. The pictures really don't do it justice. The trees were a aglow with yellow, red, and some orange. I really do love Fall most of all! 

Oh, and Grandpa back into a guard rail and left a few dings in my bumper. Oh well, it was an accident! You gotta love Grahm's reaction when I showed him the dents.

THINK CELESTIAL...

In his epistle to church members at Colossae, the apostle Paul urged them to view everything through a heavenly lens:

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

COLOSSIANS 3:1-2

He goes on to list actions which might seem enticing from an earthly perspective but which are incompatible with our heavenly objectives, including sexual immorality, greed, anger, and dishonesty. We should replace these things with kindness, humility, patience, forgiveness, and above all, charity. (See Colossians 3:5-9, Colossians 3:12-14.)

Jesus taught the same principle in the Sermon on the Mount. He said we should lay up treasures in heaven, not on earth, “for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also” (Matthew 6:19-21, 3 Nephi 13:19-21).

Book of Mormon prophets consistently frame our behavior in terms of our preparation to be judged by God. (See, for example, 2 Nephi 33:11-12, Jacob 6:11-13, Enos 1:27, Mosiah 2:27-28, Alma 5:16-25, Moroni 10:32-34.)

President Russell M. Nelson recently invited us to think about our decisions in an eternal perspective:

When you make choices, I invite you to take the long view—an eternal view. Put Jesus Christ first, because your eternal life is dependent upon your faith in Him and in His Atonement. It is also dependent upon your obedience to His laws. Obedience paves the way for a joyful life for you today and a grand, eternal reward tomorrow.

When you are confronted with a dilemma, think celestial! When tested by temptation, think celestial! When life or loved ones let you down, think celestial! When someone dies prematurely, think celestial. When someone lingers with a devastating illness, think celestial. When the pressures of life crowd in upon you, think celestial! As you recover from an accident or injury, as I am doing now, think celestial!

After the soccer games today, a stop at Costco, lunch with Colby and Grahm, Colby got to try on his Halloween costume that I got him for his birthday. The costume arrived after his birthday.

Grahm held the receipt up as we walked out of Costco, and he told me the employee would draw a smiley face on it, and she did!

Grahm always eats every bite when we go to Costa. 

Grahm loves him some stuffies! 

When Grahm saw Colby he wasn't sure about it. He realized it was Colby and gave him a big hug!
