Prayer...

Although it was a breathtaking experience to break through the clouds and fly to the bright blue horizon, that is nothing compared to the wonders of what we all can experience as we lift up our hearts in humble and earnest prayer.

Prayer helps us transcend the stormy times. It gives us a glimpse of that blue sky that we cannot see from our earthly vantage point, and it reveals to us another vista—a glorious spiritual horizon filled with hope and the assurance of the bright blessings the Lord has promised to those who love and follow Him.

Prayer and the Blue Horizon Dieter F. Uchtdorf, June 2009

The object of prayer is not to change the will of God but to secure for ourselves and for others blessings that God is already willing to grant but that are made conditional on our asking for them. Blessings require some work or effort on our part before we can obtain them. Prayer is a form of work and is an appointed means for obtaining the highest of all blessings.

A very good day...

Any day with a grandchild in my arms,
on my lap, in my home,
or on my mind is a very good day

They are home and I'm so grateful! They had a wonderful adventure in Hawaii. I missed these darling boys so much, and their Mom and Dad too.
I love you Cash, Colby, Grey, and Grahm

We can improve...

"With the gift of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the strength of heaven to help us, we can improve, and the great thing about the gospel is we get credit for trying, even if we don’t always succeed."

Forgiveness, looking for the good...

"What is our response when we are offended, misunderstood, unfairly or unkindly treated, or sinned against, made an offender for a word, falsely accused, passed over, hurt by those we love, our offerings rejected? Do we resent, become bitter, hold a grudge? Or do we resolve the problem if we can, forgive, and rid ourselves of the burden? The nature of our response to such situations may well determine the nature and quality of our lives, here and eternally. A courageous friend, her faith refined by many afflictions, said to me only hours ago, "Humiliation must come before exaltation." It is required of us to forgive. Our salvation depends upon it."
--Marion D. Hanks, "Forgiveness The Ultimate Form of Love", Ensign January 1974

"We have a choice. We can seek for the bad in others. Or we can make peace and work to extend to others the understanding, fairness, and forgiveness we so desperately desire for ourselves. It is our choice; for whatever we seek, that we will certainly find."
--Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "Looking for the Good", Ensign, March 2011

Lee's adventures...

Yesterday Tim got a call from his brother Lee and he was at the hospital in American Fork. Early in the day Lee had gone to the gym and he wasn't feeling well. He was having chest pain. He went home but the pain was getting worse. He went to the ER, the doctor quickly determined he needed to go to the hospital in Provo. He was transported by ambulance. Lee had an artery that was completely block. They doctor put in a stent, and Lee experience V-tach, a very fast heart rate. They had to shock Lee's heart three times to control the abnormal heart rate. He is still in ICU where they are monitoring his heart rhythm and blood pressure. He was able to take a walk around the floor today and he looks good. Long story short, Lee is very lucky that he did not wait much longer to get medical treatment. Hopefully he will be home in a few days. We love you Lee and are praying for you.
