 HE IS RISEN

"I believe that none of us can conceive the full import of what Christ did for us in Gethsemane, but I am grateful every day of my life for His atoning sacrifice in our behalf. At the last moment, He could have turned back. But He did not. He passed beneath all things that He might save all things. In doing so, He gave us life beyond this mortal existence. He reclaimed us from the Fall of Adam. To the depths of my very soul, I am grateful to [the Savior]. He taught us how to live. He taught us how to die. He secured our salvation."
~ President Thomas S. Monson, "He Is Risen: A Prophet’s Testimony", Ensign, April 2012

"one of the great consolations of this Easter season is that because Jesus walked such a long, lonely path utterly alone, we do not have to do so. His solitary journey brought great company for our little version of that path—the merciful care of our Father in Heaven, the unfailing companionship of this Beloved Son, the consummate gift of the Holy Ghost, angels in heaven, family members on both sides of the veil, prophets and apostles, teachers, leaders, friends. All of these and more have been given as companions for our mortal journey because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the Restoration of His gospel. Trumpeted from the summit of Calvary is the truth that we will never be left alone nor unaided, even if sometimes we may feel that we are. Truly the Redeemer of us all said: “I will not leave you comfortless: [My Father and] I will come to you [and abide with you].” (John 14:18,23)

Christopher's Creations

I know I have mentioned before that Chris is a good cook. I had meals planned for last Sunday, conference weekend but Chris said he wanted to cook so who am I to get in his way. He uses whatever is in the frig and seldom uses a recipe. Everything he prepares tastes so good.

He made breakfast ~ Eggs Benedict, hash browns and perfectly cooked bacon.

And dinner ~ grilled chicken, snap peas, peppers and a yummy noodle stir fry. Oh and the most savory asparagus soup I've ever tasted!

My handsome son... he will be the best husband and not just because he's a good cook. Where, oh where is she?!

Hip Replacement Surgery

Not exactly three words you want to here. Tim's sweet 91 year old mother fell Wednesday night at her apartment in Salt Lake City and broke her hip. Ironically her own mother fell when she was 92 and broke her hip. Sadly Memaw passed away a few days later.

Johnnie Belle had surgery for a partial hip replacement yesterday. I'm so grateful to the doctors and nurses who took care of her. Given her age, this was a high risk surgery. Before the nurses took her into the O.R., Lee said we need to have a prayer. We gathered around her bed and Mike offered a comforting prayer.

Johnnie Belle managed a smile just before surgery.

Waiting is so difficult but made easier when your with family. We were all so relieved when the doctor reported that the surgery went well. Johnnie Belle has many weeks of recovery and rehabilitation ahead of her but for now all is well. She's a brave little soldier.

Sweet Potato Tots

Once in a while I need to get a Diet Coke at SONIC. They have the best pebble ice and you can have your beverage with a lemon. The other day I stopped to get a much needed drink and the employee asked me if I wanted to try some sweet potato tots. I love sweet potatoes! It wasn't my birthday but I said yes anyway. They are yummy and who says you can only have sweet potatoes at Thanksgiving.

Fine print says "for a limited time only" ...bummer!
