It's the climb...

This park down the street from Mark and Tiff's home holds many happy memories for us. So many soccer games and walks to play at Fish Park with the Grands. We have brought the doggies here so they can run and play too.

I've mentioned before that I park my car at Fish Park several times a year and go for a walk on the canyon road. The view of the mountains are always inspiring.

Sometimes that climb back up seems challenging but other times I feel like nothing can stop me. Life has its up and downs also. "Problems form an important part of our lives. They are placed in our path for us to overcome them, not to be overcome by them. We must master them, not let them master us. Every time we overcome a challenge, we grow in experience, in self-assuredness, and in faith. When we push ourselves beyond our perceived capacity—that we discover within ourselves the courage, fortitude, and faith to continue the journey." As the Australian mountaineer Greg Child put it, “Somewhere between the bottom of the climb and the summit is the answer to the mystery of why we climb.”

Fridays are my favorite... still!

Colby hadn't been to Nickelmania with us so we headed there for some Friday fun. He often is playing with friends so I was happy he could join us. I saw a couple of girls about Colby's age looking at him. They smiled and started talking. They couldn't see me but I saw them give Colby a double take. Here we go! And who couldn't resist that handsome face and dimples.

Look at all those prizes!

We had such a nice lunch at Kneaders. I love having time to just sit and talk with Colby, Grey, and Grahm.

Colby knows a few card tricks and always wants to learn more. He looked up some new tricks on the iPad and practiced. He showed us the new trick and did it perfectly!

Grahm and Grandpa often sit on the porch and talk.

I always ask Colby to play some songs for me. He's still learning new songs and he's amazing.

I love Fridays and my grandsons so much!

FSY...

We stopped by to see Cash before he left for a week at FSY. I got him a new shirt and he sure looks handsome.

From the For the Strength of Youth page:

“I bless you to learn more about who you are and what your purpose really is, during this conference.” — Russell M. Nelson

While at FSY, you will:
Associate with other youth who share your beliefs, and develop new friendships
Experience an environment that helps you feel the joy of the gospel
Take part in inspiring devotionals and learn to "Hear Him"
Learn how to be a leader and better communicate with your friends, parents, and others
Engage in activities that will bolster your self-esteem and increase your confidence

Have a wonderful week Cash!

Team work...

I usually clean out the window wells in the Spring or Summer. To be honest, I just wasn't feeling it this year. I had the thought a few times that I should ask Colby to help me. When I asked him he said he would love to.

Colby jumped in spiders and all, and got the job done. If I did this by myself, it would have taken me at least twice as long. Colbs and I are a great team and I really enjoyed working alongside him!

He washed one side of the windows while did the other. I love clean windows. He also washed the screens.

He scrubbed down the front porch too and it looks amazing. Colby borrowed Gramps t-shirt because he was getting too hot in his sweatshirt.

Colby wants to do the right thing, he's polite, and is so handsome. I love his warm smile and dimple. He will be a teenager soon and starting junior high. Colbs is excited and a bit nervous. He will adjust just fine!

We finished off the afternoon by having lunch together. I'm so thankful to be Colby's grandmother. I'm also thankful we will be on the same team forever.

Thank you so much for your help Colbs!

Sacred support team...

And now, Zerahemnah, I command you, in the name of that all-powerful God, who has strengthened our arms that we have gained power over you, by our faith, by our religion, and by our rites of worship, and by our church, and by the sacred support which we owe to our wives and our children, by that liberty which binds us to our lands and our country; yea, and also by the maintenance of the sacred word of God, to which we owe all our happiness; and by all that is most dear unto us-
Alma 44:5

In this scripture, Moroni passionately calls for his enemies to stop the great war they’ve been fighting. As he does, Moroni speaks of the “sacred support which we owe to our wives and our children.”

It's true, the support we give to our family members, especially during difficult times is sacred. That sacred support helps us do things we couldn’t do on our own.

I want my grandson's to know that there isn't a day that goes by that they won't have the sacred support of their grandparents. We pray for Cash, Colby, Grey, and Grahm everyday. We want to hear about their days, their successes, and when they are struggling with something. We want to be a listening ear. We don't want to ever want them to feel alone and will watch for any chance to help them. Along with their parents we are their sacred support team.

I'm not sure how many times I've read the Book of Mormon. I'm sure I can read it a thousand times and still learn new things. I discovered this gem in my morning devotional the other day. I can't believe I missed it after all these years. That's why it's important to keep studying and reading the scriptures over and over and again.

Sleepover with the two G's...

When I went to pick up Grey and Grahm for a sleepover, they were so excited to show me all the fireworks Mark got for the 4th.

It was Grey's turn to pick a place to have lunch. They always eat every bite at Costa.

We did a little shopping and Grey found something right up his alley, miniature Battleship and Mousetrap. I was so impressed he figured out how to put the Mousetrap together. I had to use my glasses but we had fun playing Battleship!

Grahm found the perfect spy gear to add to his AVL arsenal! It even lights up.

Grandpa had several running contest for Grey and Grahm and they gave it their all. They really are good athletes and so fast. Grey was taking a much needed rest!

A Grahm selfie, he makes this face occasionally and it's pretty cute.

Grandpa cooking up an all-American breakfast on the 4th of July.

Grey and Grahm were teaching Grandpa the Cowboy game.

Just the usual backyard fun with the two G's!

It's an alien, of course!

Hurray back!

We love you so much Grey and Grahm.
